THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE OPENS NOT JUST FOR KIDS SERIES OCT 19 AT THE MICHIGAN THEATER

October 8, 2008

An enchanting musical version of the C.S. Lewis adventure story, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, kicks off the 2008-09 Toyota Not Just For Kids series on Sunday, October 19 at 1:30 pm at the Michigan Theater.

The production follows four children in war-torn England as they accidentally enter the land of Narnia by climbing through a magic wardrobe - a strange and wondrous place ruled by the cold-hearted White Witch, who makes winter last year-round.

Although they seem unlikely saviors, the children fulfill an ancient prophecy by defeating the witch, thus restoring sunshine and peace to the spell-bound Narnia and returning the great Lion King Aslan to his throne.

Next in the NJFK series will be TheaterWorks USA's mini-musical, If You Give a Pig a Pancake and Other Story Books, on Sunday, November 16 at 1:30 pm.

All seats are reserved. Individual tickets are $14 ($12 for Michigan Theater members), available online at Ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Macy's and the Michigan Union Ticket Office. To charge by phone, call 248-645-6666.  Service charges apply. Save on groups of 10 or more: call 734-668-8397, ext. 29.

The series runs through April 2009. Series subscriptions may include four or five performances. Premium Series tickets include three family performances by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

Series tickets are only available for one more week (through Oct. 16) by mail, phone or fax only. Prices range from $39 to $79, depending on the package chosen. Please visit the Michigan Theater web site for more information: http://michtheater.org/series_njfk.php.

The series is sponsored by Toyota with additional support from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, The Benard L. Maas Foundation, The Ann Arbor News, Blue Care Network of Michigan, Ann Arbor Commerce Bank and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
