In the mid-1980s, the Michigan Theater launched a capital campaign to begin the restoration of the theater. One of the fund raising efforts of the campaign, the "Seat Sponsorship Program," continues today as a way for donors to have their gifts recognized on one of the seats in either the historic auditorium or the screening room. For a gift of $1,000, you may choose to have your name or the name of a loved one on any available seat.

The initial funds from the Seat Sponsorship Program went for capital improvements on the theater in the 1980s - replacing the seats in the Historic Auditorium, restoring and painting the Grand Foyer, restoring the lighting fixtures in the theater, etc. Today, Seat Sponsorship funds are used to operate, maintain, and protect this beautiful building.
